North-Chiang Mai University was established in 1999 by Mr.Narong Chavasint, the founder and president, out of gratitude towards his birth-place, Chiang Mai, to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of H.M. King Bhumipol the Great, and also was inspired by the King’s saying: "Giving leads to true happiness, maintaining that nothing is more valuable than education."  It is the first private university in the north of Thailand to offer programs in engineering at bachelor’s and master’s degree levels. It is also the first university in Thailand to offer a Curriculum for Electronic Commerce Management (e-Commerce) as a bachelor‘s degree.
